A special note while organizing my belongings
Athena Orchard, a 13-year-old girl from Leicester, England, has died after a battle with cancer. Because she was always a positive and energetic daughter, the parents who lost their young daughter began to organize their daughter’s belongings with great heartache.
While sorting out, I found something that my daughter had written before she died. Before she died, she had written on the back of a mirror in her room, and it was 3,000 pieces.
Just before Christmas last year, Athena suddenly collapsed, and the family was worried about Orchard and went to the hospital for a checkup. The doctor said Orchard had osteosarcoma, a malignant tumor in his bones.
The 12-year-old girl underwent major surgery that lasted seven hours, was hospitalized for several months, and had to endure painful chemotherapy alone through incisions for tumors in her spine, shoulder and brain.
In the process, Athena lost her most cherished hair, and was forced to lie on her bed in the hospital bed, in her own room, unlike any other time she had been vigorously playing outside. All of Athena’s wishes were written on the back of the mirror, and Athena never gave up hope until the end.
Dreaming of the future after cancer treatment, I wrote “I want to fall in love with someone who will open my heart”, “Life is a game, but love is the only prize”. In addition, Athena continued to write without losing her positive perspective.
He spared no life advice to his family and said, “The purpose of life is to live a life with a purpose.”, “Every day is special, so enjoy it to the fullest!” The phrase “Happiness is determined by you” was written on the back of the mirror.
Athena, who had not lost her will to live, died a short life in her room with her family watching. Athena’s father, Dean Orchard, looked at the back of the mirror, which was Athena’s last gift and record, and cried, “I couldn’t believe it at all.”
